What is the Damage Protection Program?

Accidental damage from insureds does happen. Traditionally, this was managed via a security deposit or short-term rental damage insurance purchased by the policyholder. Both are cumbersome and often have big limitations in protection.

As a Sinistar host, you are automatically enrolled in our Damage Protection Program, which covers the cost of accidental property damage from the insured up to CA$2,000.

What does it cover?

  • Property that has been physically damaged by the guest’s actions or omissions during their stay

  • Accidental and intentional damage

  • Lesser the cost to repair or replace a damaged item

  • Pet damage

  • Structural damage

  • Labour costs

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Indoor & outdoor furniture

  • Carpet cleaning costs for stains

  • Drywall repair

  • Stolen items with a valid policy report

  • Bikes, surfboards, kayaks, etc.

What does it mean for me as a host?

With our Damage Protection Program, your rental property is protected at all times, and you can securing earnings with coverage against unexpected damages.

  • For bookings up to 10 nights in length, a Minimum Fee CA$34.00 plus tax is charged.

  • For bookings longer than 10 nights, the applicable amount of nightly fees CA$3.40/night plus tax is charged.

How do I submit a damage notice?

You can simply submit a damage notice using this link online within 14 days of the policyholder’s departure.
